Safety Engineer II - BLUvera - St. Paul, MN Manufacturing Plant

Candidate must live near or be willing to relocate to the St. Paul, MN area.  This position will not qualify for rotations or per diem.  Must be at manufacturing plant minimum M-F.

 SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a passionate Safety Engineer II who can interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Safety Engineer will work to implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site.

Candidate MUST possess a 4 year degree in health or safety OR have all of the following: 1. H.S. Diploma, 2. STS or CHST certification from the BCSP, and OSHA30.  NCCER certifications do not meet qualifications. 

Electrical experience preferred.  Distribution or Manufacturing backgrounds highly preferred.  Ability to assist in developing programs.  Ideal candidate will have experience with steel framing/wall building, as well as be open to new product developments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team membersAssist project management team in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activitiesAttend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project levelDocument and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.Conduct work area safety auditsConduct project’s leading and trailing indicator data/document collection and trend analysesConduct or assist with major incident analysisRecord, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury, and Hazard statisticsCoordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirementsReview safety submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with subcontractorsMonitor and review trade partner work plans and activities for safety concernsAssist with onsite injury management and case managementMonitor Return to Work and Modified Duty assignmentsAssist with the organization and implementation of project safety celebrations and recognition/reward programsParticipate in and contribute to project planning and hazard analysisProvide resources for safety-related informationEvaluate and offer solutions for industrial hygiene concernsMaintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and proceduresServe as a resource for safety issues or concerns for all project team membersAttend and/or chair safety meetingsInterface with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, etc.Accompany safety, health, insurance, and OSHA personnel on work-site toursEnsure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and protective wearMaintain project site Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and assist the Project Manager with the management of the safety budget allocated for the projectPerform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous related internship preferredDetail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasksProficient in Microsoft Office and pertinent safety-related software programsPositive and professional attitude with strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate company policies to team members and outside partiesStrong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsEffective public speaking and presentation skillsCurrent driver’s licenseBachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field OR high school diploma, STS/CHST Certification, OSHA 30 Hour Training, and a minimum of 7 years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work, including at least 5 years with responsibility for:Managing safety programs at the crew or project levelConducting and reviewing hazard analyses and developing controlsPlanning work activitiesEquivalent experience in a relevant field

 **The base pay range for this role is $79,800 MIN - $107,700 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).

 Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
