The Mexico Business Management Leader functions as the business leader for the Mexico City & Monterrey offices and serves as the \"right hand\" to the Office Leader (OL). Through leadership of the Talent Management function, the Business Management Director is responsible for optimizing the deployment of consulting resources to meet the business needs of the office, system and region, while ensuring that each consulting staff member in the office gets the right set of development opportunities throughout his/her career.  The Business Management Leader is the Talent Manager for the Senior Consulting Team in the office (Principals and Partners).

 

Together with the OL, the Southeast System Lead, Managing Director and Partners, and Talent Manager in the office, the Business Management Leader oversees the full employment life cycle of each member of the non-MDP consulting team.  In addition to staffing, these activities include oversight and administration of the professional development processes (career development, career path, training, transition, teaming, etc.), affiliation/retention programs, recruiting, pyramid management, and the execution of other programs related to the career and development of the Consulting Team. The Business Management Leader helps to ensure that the office has the right number of people with the appropriate and relevant skills required to meet the current and future needs of our business. All of the above will be performed in concert with priorities and objectives of all business units (X, PLA, etc) directly affiliated with the offices, with a commitment to a “One BCG” mindset.

 

As the most senior member of the Business Services Team (BST) in the office, the Business Management Leader is also expected to produce a smooth, day-to-day operation focused on service, excellence and business acumen, and to help build and reinforce a positive, close-knit office culture. The Business Management Leader is responsible for the general management of the office and for managing the office's operations and BST employees.

 

The Business Management Leader functions, in the broadest sense of the word, as a leader in BCG  – in the office, the system and the region. The Business Management Leader will provide leverage and support to the OL and Managing Director and Partner group in running the office. As BCG Mexico pushes for growth, the BML will partner with the OL in driving the commercial agenda, seat at the table initiatives, and support transforming the business with a focus on AI. The Business Management Leader will coordinate and work in concert with counterparts from other offices in the Southeast System and the NAMR region. As a member of the NABLT, the Business Management Leader will work closely with a wide range of constituents to pilot new programs, drive regional change efforts, coordinate initiatives and to develop, implement, execute and interpret programs and policies related to all local staff. 

 

The individual will report directly to the OL and and will have responsibility for championing a OneBCG culture for the members of the Mexico City and Monterrey offices.

You’re good at:

This position will be responsible for coordination across and participation in activities related to the development, mentorship, recruitment and retention of the non-MDP Consulting Team in Mexico City & Monterrey as well as other office locations in the Southeast as necessary.  Responsibilities include:

 

Manage professional development of all consulting staff

Oversee administration of Career Development processes for consulting staffOversee mentorship relationships and programsEnsure delivery of appropriate Learning & Development programs and opportunities working with the regional L&D teamSupport career transition, transfer and mobility and other programs for consulting staffManage consulting staff compensation processes in line with regional policiesEnsure the effective recruiting of Consulting staff at all levels (entry level and lateral hiring)Provide leadership for other people-related initiatives and projects as needed

 

Operate as the primary point person for issues of morale, retention and affiliation

Regularly take the pulse on people issues, bringing issues of importance to the OL’s and Managing Directors & Partners’ attention. Recommend changes where warranted and implement programs to ensure continuous improvement.Monitor Teaming Reports and pulse check related initiatives - and help to facilitate case team best practicesEnsure effective Teaming executionSet agenda for office events in order to foster an environment of collegiality and cohesiveness. Oversee coordination of all office events from small frequent gatherings (e.g., office lunches) to larger multi-day office wide events (annual retreats and team building events, holiday parties etc.)Provide thought leadership on developing and implementing initiatives to address people issues with a focus on Unlocking Potential

 

Plan and manage the pyramid to support the business objectives of the office, system and region

Together with the Finance team, accurately forecast staff needs for the businessEnsure office growth strategy appropriately incorporates pyramid estimates and considerations

 

Lead office-based Business Services Team (BST)

Ensure the efficient and highly effective local BSTBuild a highly effective team by fostering teamwork (within work groups, across functions and throughout the system and region); develop a strong administrative management team; coach direct reports; supervise the coaching of indirect reportsRecruit, hire, train and supervise the local BST; manage and monitor leverage ratios and support levelsManage local BST career development. Administer and ensure consistency, fairness and equity in the performance management and promotion process for BST. Provide performance improvement feedback and planning in line with regional processes and policies.  Support transition of staff as necessaryEnsure appropriate Learning & Development for BST staffManage local BST compensation processes, reporting and communication in concert with regional team

 

Oversee operational infrastructure for the Mexico City & Monterrey offices

Administer firm-wide, regional, and country-specific Human Resources functions including employment policies, immigration, labor law compliance, and benefits design. Act as a key partner in aligning BCG’s global values with the legal and cultural landscape of MexicoManage or coordinate delivery of support services for offices including administrative support, office services, meeting coordination, IT, HR, real estate, etc.Working closely with global functions, oversee the provision of a reliable and appropriate technology infrastructureProvide emergency management oversight for the office if/when neededManage vendor relationships and agreements as required for effective office operationsSupport development of real estate strategy and facilities management for the officeAdminister firm-wide, regional and office-specific Human Resources functions including employment policies, immigration and benefitsManage office budgeting process to ensure optimized profitability and planning

 

Support local finance function to ensure optimized profitability and planning

Provide guidance and counsel for all cost management. Operate in an environment of high service and optimize efficiency and cost managementEnsure effective revenue planning and trackingProvide counsel to office management on financial issues including audit, government requirements and statutory issues, etc. Act as signing authority for banking and contracts.Prepare appropriate ad hoc financial analyses as neededServe as a local authority on employment regulations, contributing to the development of compliant and forward-looking policies in areas such as taxation, social security, severance, and employee classificationAct as a liaison with the regional staff, Global Services and Regional Controller and Finance staff to comply with requirements for analysis, reporting, planning and to assist in development and implementation of regional initiatives and policies

 

Provide support and counsel to the System Lead, OL and Managing Director & Partners in the office

Support all Office experience functions, initiatives and projectsSet agenda and manage office communications and eventsSupport OL and System Lead in Market and Client Planning activities for office

Represent office on the NABLT and actively support regional initiatives

Support regional initiatives designed to improve overall performance in North AmericaActs as liaison NABLT team to cooperate in the development and implementation of regional policiesParticipate in regional projects

Help support Southeast staffing process in concert with counterparts across the system and region

Provide broader insight to the OL and MDPs on the state of the business and evolving trends through the lens of staffingWork closely with all Practice Areas, with a focus on Consumer and Industrial Goods, with staffing needsEnsure staffing is closely linked to the Career Development processes and to client priorities and is steeped in the BCG cultural values of openness, transparency and balanceAct as member of Southeast staffing / talent management team
