METOCEAN Engineer

Job Summary:

This is a contract role for a METOCEAN Engineer (JG3) responsible for leading and supporting engineering activities related to meteorological and oceanographic data in offshore and coastal operations. The role involves solving complex technical challenges, integrating across disciplines, and driving innovation to optimize field performance.

Key Responsibilities: Lead METOCEAN-related design, operations, and maintenance tasks, including data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. Translate global and regional standards into practical engineering solutions. Provide technical recommendations that enhance safety, reliability, and performance of offshore operations. Identify and implement new technologies and methodologies to improve field operations. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the discipline. Represent the organization externally as a subject matter expert with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Interface with internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations and align objectives. May hold Technical Authority (TA2/TA3) responsibilities depending on the scope of the role. Contribute to regional/global METOCEAN functional communities as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Manage contractors and budgets as required. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Oceanography, Meteorology, Civil/Coastal Engineering, or related field. Proven experience in METOCEAN engineering within offshore oil & gas or marine sectors. Strong understanding of data modeling, environmental loading, and risk assessment. Familiarity with Australian regulatory frameworks and offshore standards. Experience in stakeholder engagement and contractor management. Technical Authority experience (TA2/TA3) preferred. Skills & Competencies: Proficiency in METOCEAN software and data analysis tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines. Strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
