Key Responsibilities

Review industry and OEM specifications and ensure these requirements are flowed down into internal specifications as well as to PCC’s suppliers.Review raw materials and finished products for conforming chemistry and mechanical properties.Review metallurgical processes such as heat treatment, casting, and welding for compliance to program specifications.Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate internal stakeholders.Plan trials and gather data to qualify alternate materials and or suppliers.Conduct defect analysis on metallographically prepared samples via SEM and offer solutions for defect mitigation for a range of alloys.Be on call 24 hours a day at least one week per month.Provide ad hoc support to resolve production problems.Provide occasional metallurgical training for employee orientation and advancement.Other duties as assigned

 Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science required.Proven experience working in a metallurgical or materials science role, preferably in investment casting of aerospace product.Strong understanding of the impact of solidification, heat treatment, and welding on the microstructure and mechanical properties of numerous alloy systems.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Ability to work in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
