Merge Operator - 1st Shift
Overview The Merge Operator has a heightened degree of technical understanding and is primarily responsible for managing (and actively controlling) the flow of freight over the conveyance networks throughout the warehouse. This position also affords the opportunity to operate several different types of machines within the facility for the purpose of supply replenishment. Prepare and start networked conveyors at beginning of day Activate/deactivate whole, or portions, of line conveyance to ensure efficiency of freight flow Monitor functionality and flow of freight on conveyance on physical lines, and/or through video feeds As needed, call out to maintenance or physically clear jams. Monitor P&A, PFR, and DTC lines and printers for proper application and functionality; change labels and clean printers Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures Safely operate power equipment within the Service Center including in and around tight corners, through staging areas, and around pedestrian traffic Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to Supervisor; clean equipment Ensure all assigned equipment is fully operational at beginning of shift, including checking for damage and reporting all damages or malfunctions to Supervisor immediately Ability to problem solve, communicate, and work in a fast-paced environment Ability to read, write, and operate a Radio Frequency (RF) device Bring observations, problems, or safety-related issues to the attention of the Supervisor, manager, director, or HR Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings Qualifications Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Qualified candidates will be able to stand, walk, and lift weighted boxes. More details will be provided but will need the ability to meet vision requirements and meet other physical demands within labor regulations. Must be able to operate a forklift and meet all forklift qualifications. Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of 6 months of previous equipment operations experience highly preferred. Basic proficiency in speaking and understanding English* to comprehend safety instructions, participate in safety drills and effectively communicate in case of emergencies. *This requirement is critical to maintain a safe working environment for all employees. It is not a requirement of Foot Locker that employees speak English only while at work.
