Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented MEP Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to inspects various facets of work on the jobsite and performs continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications in areas such utilities, mechanical, or electrical.
What You'll Be Doing:
Under general supervision, performs difficult and sometimes complex inspection tasks. Documents nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution. Inspection activities are usually concentrated in areas such as: utilities, mechanical, or electrical. Performs work in safe manner.
Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
Experience in installation, testing and commissioning of MEP related works including PLC cabling, sensing and relaying devices, interface and coordination requirements between different subsystems of building services, firefighting systems, automatic gas-based fire extinguishing systems, fire detection and alarm system, HVAC such as chilled water system, AHUs, package units their controls, pneumatic and electrical actuation systems, drainage, water supply and plumbing works.
In addition:
Maintains office files related to the project, quantity calculations and writes daily diaries.
Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract.
Verifies that only approved materials are incorporated in the work.
Performs labor compliance interviews and maintains as-built plans.
Collects, reviews and files Certificate of Compliance, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used.
May provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors.
Coordinates work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing.
Participates in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
Participates in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
Reports on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work.
Responds to the call backs in case of emergency at the project site.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction-related field, as well as 10+ years of experience in field construction is required. Experience in the construction of large residential/infrastructure projects for mixed-use developments.
Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices.
Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the potential for performing in a lead capacity on a project.
