Mental Health Worker

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Mental Health Worker performs basic patient care, observations, and custodial patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse within the guidelines of hospital policies and procedures. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Community Hospital of San Bernardino. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Community Hospital of San Bernardino strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement, process, and activities.

Communicates, records, and reports promptly to the licensed nursing personnel vitals, treatment results, changes in patients condition, observations, patient complaints, and other pertinent information regarding the patient.Promptly answers patients requests.Follow-up on patient care responsibilities and assignments left from previous shift and reports to team leader any incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of care.Performs direct patient care activities for specific patient population according to established policies and procedures; adapts techniques to unique needs of each patient.Responsible for the cleaning and organizing patient room, clothing and belongings.Maintains supplies in a safe and efficient manner and reports maintenance and repairs as needed.
Job Requirements

Required

Minimum of one (1) year Mental Health Worker experience working with psychiatric patients either in an inpatient, residential, outpatient setting or comparable equivalentCertified Nursing Assistant: CA or Emergency Medical Technician: CAAHA Basic Life Support
