Mental Health Technician Psychiatry Dept

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Join our team as a Mental Health Technician and contribute to the well-being of our patients. In this role, you will be an integral part of the healthcare team, providing direct patient care and supportive services under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.  This position requires access to keys for the locked unit and patient belongings safe, ensuring the safety and security of our patients and their belongings.

Assist with patient/family care needs from admission to discharge.Monitor patient on Q15 min. observations including (Q5, LOS, and 1:1 obs.)Accurately monitor and record patient VS and intake and output and daily activities, including patio breaks.Assist Nurses with patient care to include Groups, Activities of daily living, as neededMust be able to effectively communicate with patients in crisis situations and assist RNs with restraining patientsAssist in maintaining adequate stocks and supplies itemsAssist with cleaning functions to maintain unitKeep medical record updated, including legal requirementsDocuments according to policy and procedure, standards and guidelines


Job Requirements
High School Graduate or equivalent requiredMinimum of one (1) year mental health worker experience working with psychiatric patients either in an inpatient or residential setting required.Current AHA BLS card.Must maintain current Fire Safety cards.CNA or EMT Preferred

This position is represented by SEIU  UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement
