CHI St. Alexius is looking for Mental Health Techs to join the team!
As a Mental Health Technician, you'll provide direct patient care in a therapeutic environment, ensuring safety and supporting the emotional and social needs of our patients. You'll play a vital role in helping patients develop coping skills and achieve personal growth, consistent with our Mission, Vision, and Values.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care: Provide compassionate, trauma-informed care, assisting patients with daily needs, basic nursing tasks (e.g., vital signs), and promoting a safe, supportive environment.Therapeutic Support: Guide patients in developing individuality, self-expression, and positive behavioral patterns through feedback and reinforcement.Crisis Intervention: Respond to emergencies, maintain a secure environment, and utilize CPI techniques to de-escalate situations and minimize restraints.Communication & Collaboration: Document patient observations and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.Program Support: Facilitate supportive activities and assist nurses with delegated tasks within your scope.Job Requirements
High School Diploma with at least 1 year of experience as a Psych Tech or Equivalent. PRTF only must be 21 or older. Must be listed on the Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Department of Health at the time of hire or within 90 days of employment.Will obtain the following within six (6) months of employment:
-Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification
-Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting – APS- IA & NE
-First Aid – PRTF only
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institude: CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
