CAI works with children (ages 4-18) currently inpatient in a psychiatric setting. We work together as a team to safely manage the milieu and use creative de-escalation skills in order to manage patient behaviors. Our team can be found often engaging with the patients by playing gaga ball, coloring while processing some emotions, or providing therapeutic programming geared towards that specific patient population. Our team is constantly evolving and changing in order to always providing high quality care. The hire for this role is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of a therapeutic environment for patients experiencing emotional disturbance. Also assists with the specialized patient care needs of each individual patient using principles of adult development and knowledge of psychopathology. **Responsibilities:** **Patient Care** + Follow policies, procedures, and standards of care. + Build supportive relationships with patients. + Align with Behavioral Health Center philosophy. + Recognize patient dysfunction impacts. + Develop and implement patient care plans. + Assist with daily personal hygiene tasks. + Assess social and emotional needs as a team member. + Understand patients within their family context. + Plan and engage in educational and recreational activities. **Safety and Security** + Conduct safety rounds and monitor the environment. + Assist in physical restraints and maintain safety. + Lead debriefing sessions post-crisis. + Monitor and document patient behavior changes. + Engage patients in safety activities. + Assist with Mental Health Hearings and admissions. + Ensure safe visiting hours and environment. + Report unsafe conditions and respond to emergencies. + Provide safety training and investigate incidents. + Associate Degree with 2 years work experience within MH/MR service. **OR** + Enrolled in Bachelor degree program in associated field of study with 2 years of experience + Related work experience in hospital or community setting with psychiatric patients. **OR** + Bachelors degree in Human Services field. + May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. + No contact with medications is allowed. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) + Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) + Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 with renewal + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal **_UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran_**
