Job Summary:\rThe Medication Assistance Coordinator serves as the hub for prior authorizations, patient assistance programs, co-pay\rassistance program, foundation programs, and additional programs allowing patients to access medications associated\rwith key service lines within the medical center as well as health system clinics. This position is responsible for providing\rfront line, direct contact with patients, families, providers, nurses, social workers and pharmacies. The Medication\rAssistance Coordinator performs all the essential functions of the Pharmacy Technician.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rScreens, processes and completes prior authorization, patient assistance, co-pay assistance, foundation\rassistance and other medication programs.\rFollows up with patients and providers on refill and reauthorizations as required by payers or assistance\rprograms.\rProcesses prescriptions through AU Health IT platforms in an accurate manner.\rCoordinates shipping and delivery activities associated with common carrier and courier services to assure\raccurate and timely medication delivery.\rCross trains to provide staffing as a Pharmacy Technician.\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:High School Diploma General or GED General or Bachelors General-Preferred\r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.CPHT - Cert Pharmacy TechPHT - Registered Pharmacy Tech\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 2 years pharmacy as a technician Required or\rMinimum 3 years Medication assistance or similar role in a physician's office, medical center or\rpharmacy Preferred and\rRequired Minimum Skills:\rStrong communication\rOrganization\rPrioritization\rTime management\rIntegrity\rMicrosoft office\rMedical terminology\rExperience with prior authorizations, patient assistance programs, co-pay assistance programs and foundation programs\rExperience with insurance, claim adjudication, and claim appeals\rExperience with Pioneer & Cerner
