Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Scribe to join our professional plastic surgery practice. The ideal candidate will have previous work experience in dermatology and/or plastic surgery and demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and documentation standards. As a Medical Scribe, you will play a critical role in enhancing the productivity and efficiency of our office by providing comprehensive support with patient documentation and record-keeping during consultations, follow-ups, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Accurately and efficiently document patient visits, including medical histories, physical exams, procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans, in real-time using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
+ Prepare and complete patient charts and documentation prior to and after consultations or surgeries to support physician workflows.
+ Manage and review clinical documentation to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, office protocols, and coding standards (e.g., ICD-10, CPT coding).
+ Assist in retrieving and organizing pertinent patient records, lab results, imaging reports, and other relevant documents for physician review.
+ Coordinate communication between patients and physicians, such as addressing follow-up questions or coordinating prescriptions when requested.
+ Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA guidelines while handling sensitive patient information.
+ Assist with administrative and clerical tasks in a collaborative team environment to ensure smooth operations of the practice.
+ Stay up to date on advancements in dermatology and plastic surgery techniques and procedures to appropriately support documentation processes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
+ Proven experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, or a related medical specialty (minimum 1-2 years preferred).
+ Strong understanding of medical terminology, charts, and medical documentation specific to dermatology and plastic surgery practices.
+ Proficiency in using EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or similar platforms).
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
+ Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
Preferred Skills:
+ Certification as a Medical Scribe (e.g., Certified Medical Scribe Professional - CMSP) is a plus.
+ Familiarity with cosmetic procedures and reconstructive surgery terminology is highly desirable.
+ Strong organizational skills to multitask in a dynamic practice setting.
