Description We are looking for a dedicated Medical Scheduler to join our team in San Luis Obispo. In this contract role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth coordination of patient appointments and medical records in a busy oncology clinic. This position is fully onsite and offers an opportunity to work closely with a collaborative healthcare team. Responsibilities: • Manage new patient referrals and ensure timely scheduling of appointments. • Respond to incoming calls and return messages promptly, maintaining a meticulous and empathetic demeanor. • Coordinate the retrieval and organization of medical records from other departments. • Schedule patient appointments efficiently, ensuring all necessary information is captured. • Collaborate closely with the infusion area to align patient care schedules. • Utilize various software systems, including EHR platforms, to manage scheduling and documentation tasks. • Work with healthcare providers to confirm availability and adjust schedules as needed. • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and appointment details. • Ensure compliance with clinic policies and procedures during scheduling activities. Requirements • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare or medical scheduling environment. • Familiarity with oncology scheduling or treatment regimens is highly desirable. • Proficiency in using EHR systems and scheduling software, such as Allscripts and Cerner. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with patients and healthcare staff. • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook and Word. • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment. • Understanding of medical terminology and patient care processes is a plus.
