Medical Scheduler
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Scheduler to join our clients respected healthcare organization in Portland, Oregon. This position is designed as a Contract position opportunity, providing a pathway to long-term employment for the right candidate. There is potential for a full-time role if the candidate is a good fit. The role involves critical responsibilities in patient scheduling and registration, ensuring smooth operations within a dynamic clinical environment. Responsibilities: • Manage patient registration and check-in processes for hospital and clinic appointments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. • Schedule both new and follow-up patient appointments while coordinating with healthcare providers. • Accurately update and maintain patient records, including insurance details and other essential information. • Verify insurance coverage across commercial and multi-state Medicaid plans, ensuring compliance with authorization requirements. • Handle work-lists related to referrals, denials, and prior authorizations with attention to detail. • Obtain necessary authorization forms and document all relevant information in the electronic medical records system. • Provide financial counseling and support for uninsured patients, offering guidance on available options. • Assist with patient intake processes and scheduling functions, ensuring a seamless experience for new patients. • Utilize Epic EMR and other software tools to streamline administrative tasks and patient interactions. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical scheduling, registration, or similar role. • Proficiency in Epic EMR software and familiarity with patient registration systems. • Strong understanding of insurance verification processes and Medicaid plans. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for managing patient data and documentation. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for handling administrative tasks. • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. • Prior experience in financial counseling or related functions is a plus.
