Directs medical record designee in the facility all functions concerned with collection, inspection and filing of medical records.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Reviews random medical records on a quarterly basis or as needed
2. Establishes procedures to be followed in the collection of, inspection for, completion and signatures of, coding and indexing, and filing and retrieving of medical records.
3. Inspects form used in Facility for legality and recommends changes, when available.
4. Advises Administrator of federal and state laws concerning medical records.
5. Submits reports to Administrator, including recommendations, progress, etc., as needed.
6. Instructs or teaches facility personnel on documentation as needed.
7. Provides reports to the Administrator any deviation from the Compliance Plan of Medicare/Medicaid and Fraud and Abuse Policy.
8. Follows the Compliance Plan of Medicare/Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Policy.
