Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. Job Summary: The HIM Specialist is responsible for managing and organizing healthcare data and information while adhering to HIPPA at all times. They play a critical role in ensuring that patient records are accurate and secure.
Answer phones, process faxes, collect and process mail, perform daily maintenance on scanner and copier/fax machine, and assist customers timely.
Scan in correspondence HIPAA authorizations.
Prepare correspondence for CIOX to process and be able navigate CIOX system.
Navigate multiple systems to retrieve medical records.
Obtain records from all types of microfilm.
Open up and shutdown the department for the day by refilling printers, turning on/shutting off lights, unlocking/locking doors, and starting up/shutting down computers.
Other duties as assigned.
