TekSystems is currently hiring a Medical Front Desk Receptionist in the Norfolk, VA area!
MUST HAVE: 1-3 years of medical receptionist experience with also experience working with Medical Records! EPIC experience is a HUGE plus!

This is a front desk medical receptionist role with MEDICAL RECORDS duties-
Normal day for the medical receptionists are answering phone calls, checking patients in and out, and assisting patients with any questions that they may have. They work tasks in the EHR systems (just transitioned to EPIC - still getting used to it) such as scheduling appointments for patients, faxing orders into the system from providers or that they receive from patients, and handling requests from providers for patient information and records. They will also be verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and updating demographics.
Responsibilities-
Answer telephones.
Triage & direct phone calls to appropriate individual or area.
Enter patient information into IDX system.
Schedule appointments.
Process patients at check in & check out.
Prepare charts for office hours
Assure appropriate referrals are in place for each Date of Service.
Verify insurance information for assigned patients.
Follow-up with referring physician &/or patient if referral is required
Forward messages to physicians and staff in Allscripts
Schedule surgeries for assigned doctor in a timely manner including obtaining all required authorizations
**This person will also be responsible for medical records --they have to put in orders in EPIC for medical records
They were supposed to still be using their own scan system, scanstead but now they are not - need to request records through EPIC
Perform other duties as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs.
Patient Volume: between 100-120 patients per day in the summer, upwards of 140 in the fall
Providers: There are 18 total providers in their office, but there are only 3-5 in office on a given day (work on a rotating schedule)
ENT has 3 sites-
Sentara Norfolk General
Sentara Princess Anne
Sentara Leigh
Princess Anne is their home base but need to be comfortable travelling to all sites
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Strong Customer Service experience
Strong computer skills - working in EPIC
Someone who can pick up quickly
Great personality and able to get along with others
Professional communication
Able to multi-task between answering phones, checking patients in, and navigating through the systems
Computer savvy
Strong health insurance knowledge
High volume, fast paced experience
Ability to handle stress and bad days / unhappy patients
Someone who is highly reliable - really focused on time & attendance right now
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
