Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Job Description

Provide courteous and effective services to patients, co-workers, and guests in support of clinical operations. This role involves admitting new patients into Residential Treatment Programs, ensuring the accuracy of patient demographic, billing, and insurance information in health record systems, and participating in various administrative and cross-departmental processes to facilitate access to treatment, retention, and integration of services for patients in Residential Programs.

ResponsibilitiesAdmit new patients into the Residential Programs using the company's Electronic Health Record System and obtain necessary Releases of Information.Assist patients in filling out intake paperwork and search their belongings to ensure safety and appropriateness.Notify patients’ insurance to lock in their specific plan during treatment episodes and provide a warm hand-off to clinical staff.Coordinate with the admissions team and Site Support Manager to assist with scheduling new patient intakes.Assist patients in reactivating or renewing their Oregon Health Plan Insurance as an OHP Assister.Utilize online insurance verification systems to confirm insurance information is valid and accurate prior to appointments.Obtain, manage, and process Food Stamp cards for patients twice a month, explaining the process and assisting with applications.Maintain a good working relationship with OHA DHS Self Sufficiency representatives to obtain cards in a timely manner.Provide excellent customer service both in-person and over the telephone, ensuring prompt, courteous, and accurate information delivery.Open, manage, and close the admit building for programs, ensuring areas are secured, orderly, and welcoming.Manage paper health records, including creation, filing, closing, and ensuring compliance with company policy and HIPAA regulations.Attend scheduled team meetings and trainings, ensuring consistent attendance and punctuality.Communicate accurately about recovery and evidence-based treatments, using data and science to inform decisions.Demonstrate compassion and respect for others while being financially responsible and avoiding waste.Essential Skills1+ year experience in front administration/reception work.General skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel).Phone etiquette and good customer service skills both in-person and on the phone.Knowledge of medical terminology, health care, and insurance processes.Experience with Epic or similar electronic medical records systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsPreferred minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.Additional education or training in practice management, medical office support, and/or administrative support processes is preferred.Preferred: 2 years of relevant customer service experience in a similar non-profit and/or health care environment.Ability to establish and maintain professional communications and boundaries.Verbal de-escalation techniques for managing upset individuals.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire.Crisis prevention training completion within 90 days of hire.Work Environment

The role is based in a medical office with hours from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. It is an onsite position that requires business casual attire, excluding jeans.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
