The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients at a busy outpatient diagnostic imaging center. This role is responsible for delivering a professional and welcoming patient experience while ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, referral compliance, and efficient patient flow. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
ResponsibilitiesGreet patients promptly and professionally; manage patient check-in and check-out processes.Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and eligibility prior to services.Confirm required referral and prior authorization documentation for imaging procedures (MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, etc.).Collect and review physician orders to ensure completeness and compliance with imaging requirements.Obtain and document co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at the time of service.Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments while coordinating exam preparation instructions.Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) and scheduling systems.Communicate effectively with technologists, radiologists, and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow.Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient questions, and escalate issues as appropriate.Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.Assist with general front-desk administrative tasks including scanning, faxing, and document management.Essential Skills3+ years of medical reception and insurance verification experience.Proficiency in healthcare terminology and processes.Experience with insurance verification and EMR systems.Strong customer service and administrative support skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clerical tasks.Experience with patient registration and appointment scheduling.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma.Familiarity with Epic and front desk reception duties.Work EnvironmentThe position is based at an outpatient diagnostic imaging center with approximately 60 employees across three sites, each hosting around 20 staff members. The schedule is from 8 AM to 4 PM or 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, including a 30-minute paid lunch. There are two openings available, one for each shift.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
