Job Description
The Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations within a medical practice. This position involves answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling prior authorizations, and rooming patients. The assistant will also address messages, manage medication refills, and handle same-day requests, providing support to a designated doctor.
Responsibilities
+ Answer phones and assist with patient inquiries.
+ Schedule appointments and manage the calendar effectively.
+ Handle prior authorizations and insurance queries.
+ Room patients and ensure their comfort during visits.
+ Address messages promptly and accurately.
+ Manage medication refills as requested.
+ Support clinical and administrative tasks within the practice.
Essential Skills
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Proficient in data entry and managing patient information.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Familiarity with medications.
+ Experience with Internal Medicine.
+ Clerical skills including insurance handling.
+ Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is helpful.
+ Medical Assistant (MA) Diploma required.
+ Experience with EPIC software preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment is a small, family-based practice offering a mix of clinical and administrative experience. The role requires a professional appearance in accordance with policy. The work schedule is flexible, with Monday to Thursday 10-hour days between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. Patient volume typically ranges from 15-20 per day, and the assistant will be assigned to support one doctor.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of the shoreline in New Haven county.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
