Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team, working during night shifts to perform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex nature. The role involves using automated equipment and specialized processes to accurately interpret and identify abnormal results from specimens submitted to the laboratory.
ResponsibilitiesPerform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex tests under general supervision.Use automated equipment and specialized processes for testing, accurately interpret results and identify abnormal results.Follow laboratory procedures for patient identification, specimen collection, diagnostic clinical testing, documentation, and data entry.Recognize, document, and communicate unusual and/or critical result values.Perform and monitor quality control processes and establish quality assurance systems.Participate in quality improvement programs to ensure accuracy and validity of test results.Perform calibration, maintenance, and performance checks on instrumentation.Prepare and evaluate maintenance schedules and operating procedures for new instrumentation, including writing technical procedures.Troubleshoot instrumentation, reagents, inventory, and patient samples, and evaluate methods for solutions.Essential SkillsProficiency in Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Microbiology.Experience with Chemistry Bench, Hematology Bench, Blood Bank, and Microbiology Bench.Current certification as a Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA), or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP).Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or Medical Laboratory Science.Completion of a CLS/MLS/MT training program.Additional Skills & Qualifications6 months+ experience in a CLIA/COLA certified lab is strongly preferred.Previous experience in a Hospital or Level 1 Trauma Center.BLS certification.Work Environment
The position is located in the central lab supporting a LIMS migration project within a Level 1 Trauma center. The work schedule includes nights, with shifts from 11 PM to 7:30 AM, and requires availability for every other weekend and scheduled holidays.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
