Responsibilities
Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Microbiology department. This position plays a vital role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care.
Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including:
Bacterial culture and identificationAntimicrobial susceptibility testingFungal culture and identificationParasitological examinationsMolecular diagnostic testing (PCR, etc.)Prepare and maintain culture media and reagentsOperate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and automated systemsEnsure proper specimen handling and processingMaintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performedAdhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocolsParticipate in departmental quality assurance activities Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel and clinical staffAssist with training and mentoring of new staff membersQualifications
One year of experience as a Lab Assistant or Technician in a clinical laboratory preferred.AA degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, including a minimum of 36 semester units of physical or biological science from an accredited college or universityCurrent CA MLT license.
