Medical Excellence Lead
Overview
IQVIA is currently seeking a Medical Excellence lead, who will report into the leader of our Content & Engagement division within the IQVIA Technology Enabled Services' US business line. This is a pivotal position expected to drive step change performance by setting tangible strategy and leading execution across a diverse set of products and services.
The Medical Excellence Lead will own a portfolio spanning a suite of medical consulting and technology-enabled services that together drive measurable medical affairs outcomes. The portfolio currently exceeds $20M in annual revenue, with success measured by Revenue and EBITDA performance versus plan, year-over-year growth, customer satisfaction, and retention. Equally critical to this role is the ability to collaborate and influence cross functional product and engineering teams who build and operate the tech platforms in this portfolio, aligning roadmaps and delivery with medical use cases and client needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy: Define and articulate a tangible vision for the Medical Excellence portfolio, ensuring alignment with IQVIA’s mission, market trends, and enterprise wide growth priorities over silo optimization. P&L Ownership: Own the US P&L and support business development for all offerings in the portfolio; this means tracking and forecasting revenue and identifying new revenue opportunities at existing and prospective clients. Client Engagement & Business Development: Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client executives, positioning IQVIA as a strategic partner. Generate new business through senior-level meetings and presentations, oversee strategic proposals, and contribute to thought leadership via speaking engagements, client meetings, and publications. Continuously train and enable the go-to-market (GTM) community on the offering suite to strengthen connectivity with the broader IQVIA portfolio.Operational Leadership: Develop and drive a comprehensive operational plan to achieve financial and strategic objectives across the portfolio, translating strategy into execution and measurable outcomes.Innovation & Growth: Champion the adoption of AI within the Medical Excellence portfolio to create differentiated offerings, accelerate client value, and improve delivery efficiency, while assessing new potential technologies for Medical Strategy and evidence planning use cases. Cross Functional Collaboration & Influence: Foster a culture of collaboration across Product, Tech, Data Science, Sales, and Consulting teams; align stakeholders across complex organizations including global and regional technology teams to execute technology roadmaps and delivery models that serve medical affairs use cases, even without formal reporting relationships.Team Leadership: Inspire and lead high performing teams of technology, product, and consulting experts; mentor and elevate capabilities to deliver world class solutions and measurable client impact.
Portfolio Offering Area Expectations
Medical Strategy: Shape and scale Medical Strategy and Integrated Evidence Planning offerings; assess opportunities for growth and enhancement; evaluate AI/technology usage; refine pricing and delivery models to meet diverse client needs. Expert Ecosystem: Evaluate positioning for sustained growth of Expert Ecosystem, a leading expert identification technology; ensure offerings are integrated with the broader IQVIA portfolio and support enterprise wide growth and client outcomes. Expert Engagement Platform: Lead the positioning and uptake of the newly launched Expert engagement platform as the central technology supporting engagement orchestration and performance tracking for medical affairs teams. Integrate with the broader IQVIA portfolio and delivery models. Medical Impact: Create and refine the Medical Impact technology development roadmap based on client use cases and feedback, oversee specifications, collaborate with tech and data teams, and implement delivery and pricing models (e.g., self service, insights packages, consultative approaches) with integration to IQVIA’s broader solutions.
Key Skills and Experience
Proven Team Leadership across diverse consulting and technology teams, with a track record of client satisfaction and business success. Strategic Acumen to craft and execute strategies that anticipate market dynamics and client needs, grounded in robust analytics. Subject Matter Expertise in medical affairs including expert identification, expert engagement, medical strategy, and medical impact; familiarity with AI/GenAI applications in medical affairs. P&L Management & Business Development, including revenue tracking/forecasting and opportunity identification. Healthcare Data & RWD Analytics—in depth understanding of real world data and its use in impact measurement analytics.Leadership in Complex Organizations, with demonstrated results aligning stakeholders without formal reporting lines. Executive Presence & Communication skills for C suite engagement, presentations, workshops, and compelling storylines/business cases.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced medical, scientific, and/or technology degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, with a proven track record of delivering against targets. 10+ years of experience managing technology processes or offerings in pharma/healthcare consulting; medical affairs experience preferred. Demonstrated business development, strategic thinking, and consultative skills; ability to manage complex relationships and priorities.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $163,100.00 - $453,700.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
