The Position

Medical Directors lead scientific, medical, and clinical excellence through strategic leadership, collaboration, and engagement with the scientific community and healthcare stakeholders, driving the adoption of transformative medicines as standard care. They ensure medical compliance, patient outcomes, and professional development within the Medical team, while serving as part of the affiliate's leadership and representing Roche's Pharma Chief Medical Officer locally.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Shape and deliver competitive medical strategies, evidence generation, and stakeholder engagement to drive clinical practice adoption, advocacy, and earlier access to transformative medicines while upholding scientific rigor and integrity.

Provide strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration to ensure impactful execution of affiliate business objectives, alignment with global strategies, and development of high-performing medical teams.

Represent Roche externally, fostering partnerships and influencing healthcare system changes through advocacy, policy engagement, and support for scientific and community activities.

License to Operate Champion

Ensure medical compliance, risk assessment, and adherence to quality standards, fulfilling License to Operate (LTO) obligations while serving as the local delegate of Roche’s Pharma CMO.

Oversee qualification, training, and resourcing of Medical Functions, while integrating and aligning LTO functions (clinical operations, regulatory, quality, safety) at the local level.

Accountable for compliant approval processes for materials, strategic provision of medical grants, and adherence to regulations for developing digital health solutions.

Who you are

Medical degree is required and mandatory.

Solid understanding of pharmaceutical business with profound Medical Affairs experience including medical scientific and strategic aspects of drug development and commercialization and Medical Compliance including experience and knowledge on GCP, GVP, Medical Device regulations and Healthcare Compliance (minimum of 5 years).

Board-certification including clinical experience in TAs/DAs of priority to the company.

Expertise in digital health is a plus.

Understanding of the local health care system, including regulatory and payer environment. Understanding of the Central American, Caribbean and Venezuela health care system is a plus.

​Excellent command of both written and spoken English with strong communication skills.
