Description We are looking for a skilled Medical Coder to join our healthcare team in Cincinnati, Ohio. This Contract-to-permanent position offers you the opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring accurate coding for medical records, enabling timely billing and compliance. Responsibilities: • Assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes to inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ambulatory medical records based on physician documentation. • Review medical records thoroughly to ensure all diagnoses and procedures are appropriately supported by clinical documentation. • Meet established productivity standards by efficiently performing coding tasks with precision and timeliness. • Resolve claim edits by researching and correcting coding errors for billing purposes. • Query physicians to clarify documentation and ensure the codes assigned are fully supported. • Analyze feedback from payers, auditors, and managers to update coding practices and make necessary corrections. • Stay informed about coding updates and guidelines, applying new knowledge to enhance accuracy and compliance. • Manage remote work efficiently while addressing any system or connectivity issues that impact performance. • Maintain organized records and resources to ensure quick and accurate reference during coding tasks. Job Location Requirement – Remote with Residency in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must reside in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana to be eligible for consideration. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent, with formal education in ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, anatomy, and disease processes. • Preferred qualifications include an Associate or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field. • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is highly desirable. • Minimum of 1 year of experience in acute care coding, with a strong understanding of outpatient and inpatient coding practices. • Proficiency in Epic EMR systems and medical coding software. • Solid knowledge of medical appeals processes and billing corrections. • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers and team members.
