Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support healthcare professionals in providing exceptional care to patients. This role involves escorting patients to exam rooms, recording vital data, preparing treatment rooms, and performing various administrative tasks.

ResponsibilitiesEscort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.Obtain all necessary patient records required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.Respond to patients' calls and requests.Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and reception.Alert nurse/physician of abnormal vitals and any important information provided by the patient.Collect inbound meaningful use data.Document flu information and initial height and weight measurements.Print medication list for patients and assist with filling out disability forms.Essential SkillsExperience in oncology and patient care.Proficiency in recording vitals and medical assisting.Familiarity with electronic health records and healthcare protocols.Ability to perform triage.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent.Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.1+ years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.Certified Medical Assistant preferred.Some state regulations may require specific certifications for Medical Assistants.Work Environment

The work environment is an oncology clinic where exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations is common. Employees may be required to handle and lift patients and stand or walk for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

This is a position based out of Roanoke, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
