Medical Assistant - McLaren Careers
**Department:** Bariatric **Shift:** Days **Daily Work Times:** 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. **Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours:** 48 **Position Summary** Responsible for assisting the provider and other ancillary administrative staff with basic office medical functions to ensure a coordinated approach to patient activities. Works closely with the provider to ensure expedient, appropriate patient care. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities:** 1. Answers telephone and written inquiries concerning the Bariatric Surgery Program and patient status. 2. Maintains patient records including charting patient activities including visits, reported medical changes, developments, and problems. Records patient weights and blood pressure readings. 3. Schedules appointments and performs registration functions on appointed/walk-in patients to the clinic. 4. Phones in prescriptions to pharmacy as required. 5. Collects patient fees, accounts for funds and deposits cash receipts daily.
