Job Summary

Under the supervision of the practice manager and the lead medical assistant the medical assistant is responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow while maintaining the highest level of patient safety, patient care, patient satisfaction, and clinician satisfaction. Promotes patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional and courteous manner; consistent with patients’ need. Demonstrates the highest level of integrity, respect, and maintains patient confidentiality. Contributes to an overall optimal patient experience.


 

Qualifications

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:          

Active participation in patient care including rooming patients, taking blood pressures, performing EKGs, recording patient vitals in EPIC. Performs other procedures as determined relevant to the individual patient and transport patient to ER, if needed.Overall responsibility for the flow of the providers’ patient care sessions.  Providing needed information to the front desk staff concerning the workflow in the patient care area and keeping the provider informed of any issues that affect the efficiency of the clinical flow. Accurately uses the Ambulatory Patient Tracking system. Demonstrates a strong sense of shared responsibility to maintain a clean environment by ensuring exam rooms and phlebotomy area are clean and appropriately stocked with supplies daily.Exhibits a strong sense of shared responsibility in maintaining clinical equipment, including EKG machines, daily transmission of EKG recordings, and monthly calibration of scales.Responsible for contacting Bio-Med for any broken machine or expired that is registered with the Bio-Medical Engineering department. Covers medical assistant shortages in other areas of Cardiology as needed.Promotes patient/customer satisfaction by interacting with patients and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.Other duties as assigned.

 LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:         

MA certification required.BLS Certified requiredEKG Certified requiredCertified Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) preferred.BLS Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.
