Job Summary:
The medical assist performs both clerical and clinical tasks to assist the department in providing patient care.
Clerical tasks may include but is not limited to answering phones, scheduling appointments, patient check-in and out, collects copayments and coinsurance, verifying insurance eligibility, coverage and benefits, obtaining prior authorizations and other clerical tasks as assigned.
Clinical tasks may include but is not limited to rooming patients, verifying patient information, confirming purpose of visit, obtaining and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing the infusion suite for patient care, communicates with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing advance practice provider or health practitioner and other clinical tasks as assigned.Completes assigned tasks with minimum supervision while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED requiredBLS certification through American Heart Association requiredPreferred:
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistance Program highly preferred6 months - 1 year of medical assistance experience preferredExperience with EPIC preferredExperience with Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel and Outlook preferredBilingual speaking highly preferredJob Specific Requirements:
