What Clinical Services contributes to Cardinal Health
Clinical Care Delivery provides high quality, patient-centered care focused on diagnosing, treating and managing care while ensuring the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the practice.
The Medical Assistant performs clinical support services, assists with clerical duties and maintains patient care documentation in medical records. This position is responsible for providing professional care specifically to Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology patients in an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
Register new patients and update demographic and medical information as needed.
Prepare and organize examination and procedure rooms for Oncology and Gynecology patient visits.
Assist providers during medical, gynecological, and minor surgical procedures (e.g., biopsies, colposcopies, IUD insertions/removals, and other in-office treatments).
Take and record vital signs, patient histories, and other clinical information to support accurate assessments.
Schedule external labs, imaging, diagnostic testing, and other follow-up appointments for patients.
Collect, label, and process specimens including Pap smears, cultures, and urine samples, ensuring accuracy and adherence to lab protocols.
Request, obtain, and organize necessary clinical documents, imaging, and lab results for patient charts.
Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR) in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and properly sanitized; sterilize and prepare medical instruments according to infection control procedures.
Properly dispose of contaminated supplies and follow OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
Respond to and follow up on patient calls, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, provider schedules, and dictation as required.
Support providers with patient education regarding treatments, procedures, and follow-up care instructions.
May assist with verifying health insurance coverage, authorizations, and other clerical functions as needed.
Demonstrate regular attendance, punctuality, and commitment to team goals.
Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related duties and supporting coworkers to ensure clinic efficiency.
Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
Perform any additional duties as required by management to support clinic operations.
Qualifications
High School graduate, preferredCertified or eligible for certification as a Medical Assistant in the state of employment or completion of a Medical Assisting programCurrent CPR certificationBasic PC skills including Microsoft Office SuiteMinimum of two years' experience, preferredLocation
