UPMC Physician Services Team is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join their team at their Brooktree location in Wexford, PA (9000 Brooktree Road, Suite 200, Wexford, PA 15091)! In this position, you will room patients, take vitals, clean exam rooms, set up biopsies, excisions, wound care, triage phone calls, complete prior authorizations, help with prescriptions refills, and assist with surgery. this role will work Monday-Friday during daylight hours – No weekends or holidays – Free parking! 

UPMC Dermatology offers care in medical, cosmetic, and specialty dermatology services.  Additionally, the department treats patient through in-person, teledermatology, and eDermatology visits. Our Brooktree location is home to general dermatology, Mohs surgery, and eDermatology.  This position will work directly with our Dermatology division assisting our physicians and Advanced Practice Providers with office hours.

In this role, you will be responsible for rooming patients, recording vital signs, and assisting with a variety of procedures including biopsies, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, suture removal, wound care, and the application and removal of Unna boots. You will also support Mohs surgery, triage patient phone calls, manage refill requests, and handle prior authorizations. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by clinical leadership. Responsibilities:

Check daily schedules and coordinate patient flow throughout the clinic Escort patients to exam and procedure rooms, assisting with mobility, transfers, dressing, and specimen collection Gather patient history, record vital signs, and perform screenings per provider guidelines Relay provider instructions to patients and families with clarity and compassion Prepare exam rooms and set up instruments and equipment according to department protocols Clean and disinfect rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control standards Follow scheduled maintenance procedures and maintain accurate cleaning records Monitor and manage inventory of medical supplies; restock exam and procedure rooms as needed Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one laboratory tests Assist physicians with clinical procedures in accordance with policy and procedure Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record Answer incoming calls and provide relevant information, including patient education as directed Process and send/receive medical records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations Obtain lab and imaging reports, hospital notes, and referral documentation Complete forms and requisitions; schedule appointments and verify insurance and patient demographics Prepare and maintain patient charts to ensure completeness and proper filing Support front office operations as needed, including administrative tasks and patient communications Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision Comply with all regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health) and UPMC Health System policies Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information
