Job Description

As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth administrative operations. You will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, documenting vital signs, administering prescribed treatments, and assisting with allergy and medication management. Your role will also include handling administrative duties such as processing lab referrals, conducting vaccine inventory, and managing immunization documentation.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare patients for examination by verifying their identity and reviewing electronic health records.Document vital signs in the EHR and instruct patients on testing requirements and procedures.Clean examination and treatment rooms after each encounter.Administer prescribed vaccines, medications, and treatments, and collect lab specimens.Observe and report patients' conditions and reactions to medications to the provider.Process lab referrals and follow up on results via phone.Conduct vaccine inventory and ensure proper storage and handling.Complete requests for school and medication forms.Accurately document immunization history in the EHR and communicate discrepancies to staff.Understand HIPAA and OSHA regulations, insurance, and billing processes.Demonstrate knowledge of the Vaccines for Children program and referrals.Anticipate and respond to customer needs while collaborating respectfully with team members.Contribute to a positive work environment and identify improvement opportunities.Utilize resources efficiently and seek cost-effective methods.Address unsafe behaviors, validate information, and ensure clear communication.Promote safety for everyone and pay attention to important details.Essential SkillsCertification in Medical AssistingBasic Life Support (BLS)Proficiency in electronic medical records systems, preferably EpicAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED and completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.One year of medical office experience, preferably in a pediatric setting.Proficient in basic math calculations.Knowledgeable about examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment room protocols.Familiarity with medical equipment and terminology.Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.Work Environment

You will work in a pediatric setting with over 20 colleagues and handle approximately 40 patients a day. The ability to speak Spanish or Russian is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
