Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting patient care and ensuring the efficient operation of our medical facilities. You will be involved in various tasks ranging from patient intake to assisting in clinical procedures.
ResponsibilitiesConduct rooming and intake processes, collecting vital signs, height, weight, and other data related to the patient's reason for visit.Gather patient and family data, including medical and social history.Review and update the patient's current medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy procedures.Determine the need for routine health screenings by reviewing patient records.Ensure exam and procedure rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies, equipment, forms, and educational materials.Provide patients with after-visit, follow-up, self-care, or procedural instructions and educational materials.Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam and treatment rooms.Clean and sterilize medical instruments.Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, tests and treatments scheduling, and referrals.Answer clinic telephone and manage in-basket tasks under the direction of a provider or nurse.Assist in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.Precept new medical assistant hires and externs, and train other medical assistants in clinic procedures.Assist the physician in maintaining preventive health measures for patients.Perform clinic-based quality or safety roles, such as clinic safety coordinator or medication registry maintenance.Manage clinic supply ordering.Essential SkillsProficiency in Epic systems.Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.Experience in healthcare, particularly internal medicine and vitals monitoring.Strong customer service skills.Ability to room patients effectively.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.Phlebotomy skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsCompletion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred.Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA required.Basic Life Support Certification from AHA or ARC required.Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to engage positively with patients and families and work collaboratively with staff and providers.Proficient computer skills for documenting information into electronic medical records.Minimum one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant.Work Environment
The position is working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You will be part of a large health system, contributing to a collaborative and dynamic team environment.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
