Medical Assistant
**Job Type:** Regular **Time Type:** Full time **Work Shift:** Day (United States of America) **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt **When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.** Under the general supervision of the designated supervisor (depending on the location) and in collaboration with a clinical overseer, where applicable, the Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of high quality and safe clinical care. S/he will assist with patient care and operational flow by performing clerical and clinical duties as needed within the scope of their training and applicable to the kind of practice and patient population. The MA I will organize work to enhance patient satisfaction and provider efficiency. S/he will collaborate with providers for daily needs/schedule coordination, by reviewing provider schedule and anticipating patient, provider and appointment needs at the time of the patient visit, keep visits running on time, communicate delays with patients, manage same-day schedule additions, ensure exam rooms are properly supplied and provide support for patient forms completion. The MA I is responsible for following and sustaining all workflows, standard work, policies, and procedures. The performance of the Medical Assistant I in the delivery of empathetic and efficient care and service will have a direct impact on our overall patient satisfaction. The Medical Assistant works in collaboration with the physician(s), other health care provider(s), and other ambulatory support staff within the department and with other disciplines to deliver patient care. **Job Description:** **Clinical Responsibilities** + Deliver safe, age-specific patient care under supervision of provider, RN, or LPN. + Participate in culturally competent care plans and evaluate outcomes. + Gather patient information, document in EHR, and report findings. + Assist with exams, procedures, and specimen collection/testing (e.g., blood, urine, strep, A1C). + Administer immunizations/injections per provider orders. + Perform phlebotomy and support wound care and minor procedures. **Collaborative & Clinical Guidance** + Communicate and collaborate with healthcare team, patients, and families. + Support patient education and adhere to clinical policies and safety standards. + Maintain regulatory compliance and readiness. **Quality & Improvement** + Meet orientation and annual competency requirements. + Participate in quality improvement initiatives and report safety concerns. **Non-Clinical Responsibilities** + Conduct pre-visit planning and post-visit documentation. + Support billing accuracy and care coordination. + Track test results and communicate normal findings. + Maintain EMR and registry data for patient populations. **Administrative & Communication Support** + Manage provider InBasket, messages, and documentation. + Provide front desk and check-out coverage. + Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and complete referrals. **Organizational Responsibilities** + Adhere to confidentiality and Lahey Health policies. + Demonstrate customer service excellence and commitment to lifelong learning. + Complete assigned projects and mandatory education. **Qualifications** + **Education** : High School Diploma required; MA certification preferred. + **Skills** : Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and computer skills. + **Experience** : None required. **Key Relationships** + Collaborate with patients, families, nurses, providers, and administrative staff. **Physical & Environmental Requirements** + Requires mental focus, lifting (20–75 lbs), manual coordination, and sensory acuity. + Exposure to hazardous materials, blood/body fluids, and patient handling. + Must prevent patient falls and maintain safety standards. **As a health care organization, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to care for and protect our patients, our colleagues and our communities.
