Youll play a key role in analyzing, developing, and implementing policy changes related to Wisconsin Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus, working closely with legal, clinical, and technical teams to ensure policies are effective, clear, and aligned with best practices.

Work Environment & Benefits:

Responsibilities:
Shape Medicaid & BadgerCare Plus Policy

Research and propose changes to coverage and reimbursement policiesDefine policy goals, analyze impacts, and synthesize supporting dataCollaborate with clinical experts and legal teams to align policy with care standards

Lead Policy Implementation

Develop and manage implementation plans for new policiesCoordinate with technical teams to integrate updates into Medicaid systems (MMIS)Support provider communications and stakeholder outreach

Support Ongoing Program Operations

Address provider inquiries, legislative questions, and complex benefit issuesDraft official communications and policy guidance for DHS leadershipMonitor and manage contracts and benefit area coordination

Act as a Subject Matter Expert

Serve as the policy lead for your assigned benefit areaParticipate in budget planning, legislative development, and public meetingsRepresent the Bureau in stakeholder discussions and internal briefings

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in public policy, healthcare administration, or a related field2+ years of experience in healthcare policy or working within Wisconsin Medicaid systemsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication abilitiesPassion for improving healthcare systems and public serviceEagerness to learn and grow within a collaborative policy environmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under deadlinesProven ability to work cross-functionally with technical, legal, and clinical teamsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and remote communication toolsKnowledge of healthcare billing, Medicaid regulations, and reimbursement processesFamiliarity with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD coding is a plus
