Responsibilities
Comply with Barrick’s established health and safety policies, procedures, practices and Occupational Health and Safety Acts.
Visibly practice safety leadership through leading by example.
Actively ensure a safe environment for yourself, your peers and local communities through regular communication and due diligence.
Promptly report and correct unsafe acts and conditions.
Actively ensure that fatal risks are understood and critical controls are maintained.
The principal duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Trainer is to deliver, assess and where necessary offer support to learners engaged in Mechanical trade courses, in accordance with the guidelines.
Develop and maintain the current Maintenance trade course material including lesson plans and schemes of work for a range of courses.
Assist in assessing, changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
Review course content and delivery methods on a regular basis.
Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and learner performance goals.
Ensure all relevant evidence of learning is accurately and correctly documented and completed for each learner.
Provide feedback and support to learners on a one-to-one group basis.
Assist in the overall development of the training centre.
Assist in the delivery of course material outside of the subject of Maintenance trade training (Barrick Safety procedures etc.).
Prepare and assist in internal and external audits.
Supervising, training, developing and nationalization of the maintenance personnel.
End of month reporting of maintenance training against plan.
Assist with accident/incident investigation and with the induction and training of new employees.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Section Manager.
Provide pastoral care and support to trainees.
Qualification Requirements
A relevant Mechanical Trade Certificate from a recognized institution.
Certification such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer) is a strong asset.
Experience and Skills Requirements
Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in mechanical fitting and mobile equipment maintenance.
Demonstrated competencies in the rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a safe working environment and practices.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Computer skills –MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook.
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment.
