Job Title: Mechanical Shift Engineer

MAIN JOB PURPOSE 

The Mechanical Shift Engineer is a Preventative Maintenance specialist engaged to optimize the running and maintenance of equipment within the factory. Where breakdowns occur, the multi-skilled mechanical shift engineer will act to diagnose and troubleshoot instabilities and where necessary will recommend design improvements. He/She is also closely involved with setting the Maintenance Strategy for the respective production area. 

 

OBJECTIVES 

To define specific duties of the jobholder, their reporting lines within the organization and identifies the appropriate qualifications to ensure competency of the work being performed. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Safety and Quality 

Ensure compliance to Safety and Occupational Health procedures (i.e., use of proper PPEs and reporting of unsafe acts and conditions through SBO, etc.) 

Ensure compliance to environmental policy (i.e., proper waste segregation and water and energy conservation, etc.) 

Ensures compliance to GMP and HACCP (i.e., proper hygiene and proper wearing uniforms, etc.) 

Participates in QBO program 

Follow prescribed work procedures and company safety rules and regulations 

Admin 

Compliance to company COBP, CR&R 

Compliance to the GMP and GHK rules of the plant 

KPI 

Deliver targets/KPIs aligned with his/her Line Manager 

Focused Improvement 

Participates in Focused Improvement activities 

Executes agreed Focused Improvement actions 

Raises improvement activities (OFI) and OPL 

Validates results and effectiveness of Focused Improvement activities via real time observations 

Maintenance 

Perform routine activities such repairs and PM-related troubleshooting of filling machines. 

Perform preventive maintenance task based on the calendar given by the maintenance planner for sachet and tube lines, and its auxiliary equipment. 

Supports in machine conversion from one SKU to another and vice versa with in standard time.  

Analyze and improve frequent breakdown of mechanical components for filling machines. 

Assist in performing audits and execution of corrective action to ensure compliance on Machinery Safety and related standards. 

Generates and executes focus improvement in raising the OEE and OR related to machine breakdown. 

Participates in the EWO (emergency work order) filling up and execution of actions that relates to prevent any similar breakdown. 

Coordinate with third party mechanical supports during breakdown. 

Support in Kaizen projects and low-cost automation. 

Engage with operators regarding issues on equipment and machine reliability. 

Perform routine activities in End of Line equipment, including operation, troubleshooting, diagnosis, minor repair and escalation for major repair. (End of line equipment consists of Conveyors, Checkweighers, case tapers and Robot palletizers) 

Digital 

Able to operate simple gadgets such as smart phone and iPad. 

Learn and adapt to digital tools as required by the Company. 

Manning 

Participates in trainings and other ad hoc activities as required by the Company. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED 

Technical – Able to identify and establish the optimum Maintenance of Filling machines. 

Mechanical – Fully operational in mechanical components, parts and principles. 

Mechanical – Fully operational skills in Mechanical Automation and Control. 

Mechanical – Fully operational skills in machinery assembly, sub-assembly and component repairs. 

Mechanical –  Basic skills on welding , cutting , fabrication and drilling works for machine components and parts 

Electrical – Basic skills in electrical and motor controls
