Mechanical Quality Technician
Job Title: Mechanical Quality TechnicianJob Description

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, the Mechanical Quality Technician is responsible for inspecting incoming parts and supplies, conducting first article, in-process, and final inspections, and inspecting setups and fixtures. The role also involves maintaining or scheduling the maintenance of testing tools, monitoring inspection schedules, and ensuring compliance with inspection requirements. The position requires reading and analyzing blueprints, quality documents, and manuals, verifying measurements and specifications to plans, and possessing a basic knowledge of mechanical systems, critical thinking skills, and proficiency with standard testing tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, optical comparators, and CMM equipment and software. This is a very hands-on position with a variety of mechanical inspection tools.

ResponsibilitiesInspect first articles, in-process parts, and products prior to shipment using gauges, coordinate measuring machines, optical comparators, and vision systems.Generate spreadsheets for data collection.Generate first article inspection reports.Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.Test incoming raw materials.Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, fixtures, and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced.Read instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts being machined within specified limits.Wear proper safety equipment and comply with company safety rules at all times.

Work Environment

The work is conducted onsite at a new facility. The environment is hands-on, requiring the use of a variety of mechanical inspection tools. Proper safety equipment must be worn at all times, and company safety rules must be adhered to. The role involves a fast-paced, high-throughput environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, Alabama.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
