Join us. **Job Description** We are currently seeking a **Mechanical Materials Handling Layout Designer** to join our Canadian mining team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of mining infrastructure, including underground and surface materials handling systems as well as plant upgrade projects. You will work collaboratively as part of a project team, guided by project managers, engineers, and specialists. As a Mechanical Designer, you will leverage your expertise in conveyor and mechanical equipment design to develop 3D models, CAD drawings, and perform quantity take-offs. Your ability to work autonomously after reviewing project scopes will be essential, and you will coordinate directly with the lead designer and discipline engineers. **Key Responsibilities:** **Design and Development:** + Create designs for mining and industrial infrastructure, including heavy-duty belt conveying systems, materials handling equipment, crushing and screening systems, pumping and piping, and water treatment plants using AutoCAD-based 2D and 3D packages and Navisworks. + Prepare mechanical and process mechanical layout and detailed design drawings. **Quality Assurance:** + Ensure overall data quality and integrity throughout the design process. + Undertake quality control procedures and promptly relay engineering-related issues to the lead designer for timely resolution. **Documentation and Coordination:** + Prepare documentation for design projects and reports. + Coordinate with team members to ensure effective task management and communication. **Qualifications** **Minimum Requirements:** + Diploma/Certificate in CAD drafting or equivalent. + 4+ years of related experience in mining mechanical drafting and CAD, with demonstrated expertise in the layout and design of heavy-duty belt conveyor systems and associated infrastructure. **Preferred Qualifications:** + 8+ years of related experience in mechanical design. + Certified or eligible for membership to a recognized provincial technologists association. + Experience using Autodesk Navisworks for project clash detection and coordination. + Proficient in AutoCAD within a multi-disciplined 3D modeling environment for conveyors, process equipment, and related infrastructure. + Working knowledge of Autodesk Advance Steel is an asset. + Excellent time management skills and attention to detail. **Additional Information** + Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
