We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Mechanical to join our London Distribution Centre located at P&G London Plant, West Thurrock.
Job Summary
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our London Plant Distribution Center Systems Team. This role involves maintaining and optimizing our equipment and facilities to ensure efficient and continuous operations, contributing directly to our production and distribution center goals. The role involves shift work based on a Days and Nights shift pattern.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of industrial machinery, including automated pallet storage systems, conveyor equipment, layer pickers and more.
Diagnose mechanical, minor electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime.
Install, commission, and decommission machinery and equipment, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational procedures.
Execute precision fitting tasks, including fabricating, assembling, and repairing mechanical components and structures.
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and testing of utility systems (e.g., HVAC, water, compressed air, steam) to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
Maintain and repair Automatic Storage & Retrieval Systems including automated pallet depositing vehicles, lifts, conveyors & elevators etc.
Operate and maintain shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders for fabrication and repair tasks.
Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
Document maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and parts usage, accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate effectively with production teams, engineers, and other departments to identify and resolve operational issues.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and overall department efficiency.
Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced team members where required.

Job Qualifications
Job Qualifications
Proven experience as a Millwright, Maintenance Fitter, Industrial Mechanic, or similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, ONC or C&G Part 3, Apprenticeship) in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical principles.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex machinery and systems effectively.
Experience with various hand and power tools, as well as workshop machinery.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to industrial environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
