Job Summary:
The Mechanical Integrity Engineer plays a key role in managing and advancing the mechanical integrity of fixed equipment across six primary facilities, with additional support provided to other sites as needed. Responsibilities include:Overseeing daily activities such as coordinating inspections, repairs, and installations of fixed equipmentDeveloping, implementing, and maintaining a robust Mechanical Integrity programAs a member of the corporate Asset Integrity team, this position collaborates closely with EHS teams, Reliability Engineers, facility staff, and third-party contractors to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
This position requires up to 30% domestic travel, plus Canada.
Flexibility in work hours is sometimes required for turn arounds, emergency repairs, special projects, etc.
Essential Job Functions:
Mechanical Integrity ProgramDevelop, implement, and maintain mechanical integrity programs tailored to applicable facilitiesSupport for Fixed Equipment ActivitiesDirect and oversee third-party contractors as neededAnalyze inspection and testing results, ensuring corrective actions or future PMs are properly addressed in collaboration with facility and corporate teams (e.g., maintenance, safety, reliability engineers, and subject matter experts)Work with SMEs to establish inspection and repair plans aligned with relevant damage mechanisms and applicable codes/standards (e.g., ASME, API)Contribute to design, specification, and construction activities related to fixed equipmentCompliance and Standards IntegrationEnsure API, ASME, NFPA, NBIC, and other applicable standards and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPs) are integrated into the Mechanical Integrity program, particularly for inspection and repair activitiesSupport or lead Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) implementation efforts as applicableDefine and implement best practices for inspection and repair documentation, record storage, and trackingDevelop procedures for equipment inspections and tests to ensure complianceAudit and Qualification ManagementLead or support Mechanical Integrity compliance auditing efforts at plant sitesEnsure third-party inspectors and repair contractors meet necessary qualifications and certificationsKnowledge DevelopmentMaintain a strong working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and RAGAGEPs, including OSHA 1910.119, Local Boiler and Pressure Vessel Laws, ASME Section VIII, API 510, API 570, API 653, etc.Required Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or institutionMinimum of 3+ years in an industrial facility MI, Maintenance, Reliability, or similar roleA valid driver’s license and United States PassportPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and RAGAGEPs (ASME Section VIII, API 510, 570, 653)Good decision-making ability and problem solving skills Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks Excellent communication skills both oral and written Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Products and Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to work in a team environment; team environment will be in person and remotelyMust be customer focused and be proactive in dealing with conflict, influencing others, listening, management of priorities, organization & planning, partnering, and utilizing a proactive approach to reliabilityCandidate must be self-driven to recognize, prioritize, and resolve action itemsTraining and familiarity in API, ASME, NBIC and other industry standards and RAGAGEPsFamiliar with various NDE techniquesCertified as an API or welding inspectorExperience with fixed equipment maintenance, inspection, and repair guidanceExperience with working and coordinating with 3rd party inspection and repair organizationsExperience with material science, corrosion, and fitness for service Knowledge of OSHA PSM requirements
