System One is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Qualification Engineer – Mechanical to support our client’s nuclear projects. This role reports to the Equipment Qualification Program Manager and provides day-to-day support for the development and implementation of Equipment Qualification Programs to meet regulatory requirements.
The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure compliance with design and licensing strategies, participate in interactions with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and support preparation of licensing documentation. Responsibilities Assist in the design and implementation of the equipment qualification program. Coordinate with design personnel to ensure designs and design changes meet regulatory requirements. Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation in compliance with Equipment Qualification Programs, regulations, and quality assurance standards. Interface with technical teams at System One’s client sites, partners, and contractors. Prepare and review technical materials such as test requirement documents and specifications. Review correspondence to and from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Support safety analysis report (SAR) revisions and preparation. Conduct and review regulatory evaluations for equipment qualification. Key Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience). 15+ years of experience in development and implementation of equipment qualification. Ability to contribute to program development from initial concept to final qualification. Voting member on the ASME QME-1 standard committee (required). Member of the ASME OM-2 Code (highly desirable). Knowledge of IEEE standards (IEEE-323, 344, and 420 7-4.3.2). Familiarity with NEI 18-04, Regulatory Guide 1.233, and other related NRC guides. Experience with vendor test facilities and equipment environmental qualification. Strong awareness of nuclear industry trends and activities related to equipment qualification. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Professional. Experience with NRC interactions (pre-app discussions, topical reports, RAI responses). Strong project management skills with ability to manage deadlines independently. Excellent communication, integrity, and teamwork skills. Willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
