Mechanical Engineering Manager (R&D)
**Summary:** At Meta Reality Labs Research, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager (R&D) with experience developing and shipping consumer electronics, and/or wearables that include new technologies. This Leader will have a history of being a collaborative part of a hardware management team while driving programs that require engineering rigor to satisfy a broad set of partner teams. More broadly, you will work with a highly interdisciplinary team of researchers with a broad range of experiences, perspectives, approaches, and backgrounds, and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities. **Required Skills:** Mechanical Engineering Manager (R&D) Responsibilities: 1. Manage a team of 5~8 Mechanical Engineers via team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching, mentoring, creating career development plans, performance reviews 2. Identify key roles required for team success and recruit top talent into Meta 3. Provide technical leadership to the program via direct contribution and review of team’s work 4. Drive clarity and refinement of development processes used by the team to execute 5. Perform architecture, design, feasibility reviews to ensure programs have a tolerable amount of risk **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 6. 8+ years of experience with product development and end-to-end execution 7. 5+ years of experience leading/managing engineering teams through electronic product development cycles 8. Experience shipping new technologies in mass production, working with both domestic and overseas manufacturing 9. BS in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or equivalent 10. Experience influencing Vice Presidents & Directors on business strategy **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 11. 5+ years experience managing design teams for high-volume consumer or wearable products 12. Experience architecting consumer electronic devices 13. Technical expertise in manufacturing process, program management, and/or organizational development 14. Experience establishing mentorship in a collaborative mechanical team 15.
