Mechanical Engineer III
Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join the team of 9 at a large offshore energy company in Houston, Texas. The Mechanical Engineer III leads the creation and review of mechanical equipment designs, drawings, and specifications for existing technologies and complex applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards, performance requirements, and internal policies. This role utilizes CAD/CAM and database systems to develop layouts, analyze and evaluate equipment systems, and generate new designs. Responsibilities include conducting stress and service life analyses using classical hand calculations and finite element methods, testing prototypes to identify design limits, and preparing comprehensive documentation such as specifications, reports, and technical communications. The engineer also supports project planning by assisting with schedules, budgets, and status reports, and mentors drafters, designers, and junior engineers. Strong internal presentation and report writing skills are essential, along with the ability to contribute to technical publications and collaborate across engineering functions. Skills and Requirements · Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Mechanical Engineering preferred. · 5-7 years of experience in a similar role. · Experience creating or reviewing production manufacturing drawings, including weldments and machining · Experience designing mechanical equipment based on functional requirements, stress analysis, materials selection, manufacturability, serviceability, and installation interface requirements. · Proficient in classical analysis methods and in writing equipment specifications. Understanding of, or experience with, finite element analysis (FEA). - GD&T experience is a plus. - Experience with hydraulic systems such as HPUs and winches is an advantage.
