Daikin Applied is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer will support the continued success and reliability of our compressor product lines. In this role, you will be responsible for lifecycle support of fielded products, driving design improvements, managing obsolescence, resolving field issues, and supporting manufacturing and service teams. The ideal candidate will have some experience with high-speed rotating equipment and a good understanding of sustaining product performance throughout the lifecycle. Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!Location: Staunton, VA – OnsiteWhat you will do:Support for legacy and current compressor productsInvestigate and resolve field issues, including performance degradation, reliability concerns and material failuresDrive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodsEvaluate and qualify alternate components or suppliers due to obsolescence, cost reduction, or quality initiativesSupport changes in manufacturing processes and ensure product configuration controlInterface with cross-functional teams including Quality, Service, Supply Chain and Manufacturing to address technical challengesMaintain product documentation and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs)Identify opportunities for product improvement and cost optimization while maintaining functional integrityMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development and/or sustaining role for rotating machinery or HVACR systemsGood understanding of high-speed rotating products and equipment operation, components, and failure modesProficient in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo) and engineering analysis toolsExperience with root cause analysis, field support and product lifecycle managementStrong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teamsWork visa sponsorship is not available for this positionPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree4+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development and/or sustaining role for rotating machinery or HVACR systemsExperience with PLM systems and change management processesFamiliarity with ASME, ISO, and AHRI standards related to HVACR equipmentKnowledge of materials, coatings, and corrosion-resistant designExperience supporting global manufacturing and supply chain teamsExposure to Six Sigma, Lean, or reliability-centered maintenance practices

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,200-$120,700 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
