Proficiency with one or more: CAESAR II, Aspen HYSYS / Aspen Plus, AutoCAD, CADWorx (or equivalent tools)
Demonstrated ownership of discipline deliverables: PFDs/P&IDs, control narratives, I/O lists, layouts, cable schedules, and FAT/SAT documentation
Experience producing home-office discipline estimates, man-hour forecasts, and progress tracking for mid-size projects
Ability to analyze complex process/automation problems and develop new or improved engineering techniques and procedures
On-site commissioning and startup experience for automated process lines and material-handling systems
Understanding of relevant codes/standards (e.g., ASME, ISA/IEC 61131/61511, NFPA, API where applicable)
Preferred SkillsActive PE license (or on track to obtain)
Experience with advanced modeling/simulation and stress analysis workflows integrating CAESAR II with 3D plant models (CADWorx/AutoCAD)
Specification and integration of PLC/DCS/SCADA (e.g., ControlLogix, Siemens, DeltaV, FactoryTalk, Ignition)
Development of SIL/LOPA inputs, cause-and-effect matrices, and alarm rationalization
Vendor bid evaluation and technical clarifications for skids, packaging lines, conveyors, crushers, mills, pumps, and CIP/COP systems
Lifecycle documentation for cGMP or food safety environments (HACCP, 21 CFR Part 11, validation packages)
ResponsibilitiesParticipate in development of project design concepts and criteria for automated process systems across Food & Beverage and Mining applications
Lead creation and review of discipline deliverables; ensure constructability and operability across process, piping, mechanical, electrical, and controls interfaces
Analyze complex problems; originate and standardize improved engineering methods, test plans, and control strategies
Represent projects in meetings and conferences with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders; provide technical presentations and design justifications
Prepare home-office discipline estimates and staffing plans for mid-size projects; manage budgets, progress, and change control for the automation discipline
Oversee toolchain execution: piping stress analyses (CAESAR II), process simulations (Aspen HYSYS/Aspen Plus), and 2D/3D design (AutoCAD/CADWorx)
Direct FAT/SAT, commissioning, and turnover; resolve punch items and close technical actions with documented results and as-built updates
