We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Charlotte, NC. This role involves leading the mechanical design of complex projects in industrial or commercial facility environments, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact in our growing engineering firm.
ResponsibilitiesServe as the technical lead and subject matter expert for mechanical design across complex, capital-intensive projects.Lead the development of mechanical system architecture, including load calculations, energy modeling, equipment selection, and layout coordination.Oversee the creation of engineering documentation, such as specifications, procurement packages, system diagrams, and commissioning protocols.Provide strategic input during project planning, feasibility studies, and client engagements, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.Actively contribute to business development, including proposal writing, client presentations, and relationship management.Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.Lead mechanical design efforts across all project phases: FEL/FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated engineering solutions that meet performance, budget, and schedule targets.Ensure seamless coordination with architectural, structural, electrical, and automation disciplines.Represent the mechanical discipline in client-facing engagements, including design reviews, site visits, and commissioning activities.Uphold high standards of communication and documentation, supporting proactive coordination and issue resolution.Essential SkillsAccredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.Professional Engineering License is required or close to obtaining (8+ years).8–10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering, focusing on industrial or commercial facility projects.Expertise in mechanical systems design, including HVAC, piping, utility systems, and equipment layout for manufacturing, food & beverage, life sciences, or pharmaceutical environments.Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, with familiarity in BIM workflows.Strong understanding of building codes and engineering standards, including IBC, ASHRAE, and applicable mechanical design regulations.Experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, mentoring junior staff, and managing design deliverables across project phases.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for system analysis, cost modeling, and performance optimization.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with automation and control systems (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, VFDs) and their integration into mechanical infrastructure is a plus.Ability to assess existing mechanical systems and drive optimization strategies that improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.Work Environment
This position is based in our growing Charlotte office, offering a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two days from home. The work environment is a typical office setting with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature/humidity. Physical demands include occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and performing tasks that may require standing, walking, sitting, and using hands. Overtime may be required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $165000.00/yr.
Receive 10% bonus of salary.
