Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical Engineer!! Job Description As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building custom machinery for packaging automation. You will lead the structure design and testing of various frameworks, collaborate on system design from CAD modeling to hands-on assembly, and execute test plans to validate sensor data collection and system performance. Additionally, you will integrate off-the-shelf components into custom structures for data acquisition and machine functionality, while supporting both new machine development and existing equipment enhancements. Responsibilities + Develop mechanical designs using SolidWorks, ensuring manufacturability and performance. + Focus on part and sub-assembly level, executing tasks independently. + Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles throughout the product lifecycle. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and timelines. + Use hand tools and lab equipment safely and effectively during prototyping and testing. + Maintain design documentation within PLM systems. Essential Skills + 5 – 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering. + Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical design. + Strong foundation in mechanical concept development and system assembly. + Comfort with sensor integration, mounting, and data validation. + Experience with new product development and fabrication. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Machine Design experience is preferred but not essential. + Familiarity with GD&T is a plus. + Experience with sheet metal, aluminum extrusion, and machine design. Work Environment The role is based in a lab environment, within a dynamic group of engineers developing automated solutions for packaging and sortation. This team is pioneering the first generation of capital equipment that integrates actuators, sensors, and custom mechanisms to revolutionize packaging systems. With a strong focus on sustainability, they are creating smarter, greener machines for the future. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Westborough, Massachusetts. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
