Mechanical Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description This role will focus on creating and updating engineering documentation, including detailed drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Engineering Change Order (ECO) packages. While the primary responsibility is documentation and manufacturing support, the ideal candidate will also bring strong mechanical design skills to contribute to design-related tasks as needed. Responsibilities + Create and revise detailed mechanical engineering drawings using CAD software. + Update and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in accordance with company standards. + Prepare and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with complete, accurate documentation. + Contribute to mechanical design work as required, supporting ongoing product improvements and development projects. + Assist in resolving design issues discovered during manufacturing, assembly, or QC checks. + Perform mechanical inspections and quality control checks on large industrial robots, including fit, finish, and functional verification. + Verify that manufacturing output matches engineering specifications and drawings. + Document and report any deviations or non-conformances. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience. + 3+ years of experience in mechanical drafting and engineering documentation. + Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks highly preferred) and PDM/PLM systems. + Strong understanding of mechanical assembly and manufacturing processes. + Experience with BOM creation/management and ECO processes. + Ability to perform mechanical QC inspections on large-scale industrial or automation equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with large-scale automation, robotics, or heavy machinery. + Familiarity with GD&T and mechanical tolerance analysis. + Knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, and industrial safety standards. + Previous experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. + Net suite & Excel (BOM documentation), CAD, GD&T, automation, robotics. Work Environment This individual will be working on the sustainment engineering team. They will work on new machines that have been commissioned, manufacturing builds, and set up, ensuring the machines are operational. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Austin, Texas. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
