Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work on an initial 6 months assignment (possibility to go direct) in Deer Park, TX with benefits.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support refinery operations on a contract basis. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in mechanical systems, equipment reliability, and maintenance strategies to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
The role focuses on and is a production team’s first line of technical support for general-purpose static and rotating equipment, including piping, valves, bolted joints, temporary repairs, relief devices, pumps, mechanical seals, steam turbines, blowers, and fans. Key Responsibilities: Perform mechanical engineering evaluations, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis on rotating and static equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels). Support maintenance and reliability teams with equipment upgrades, repairs, and replacements. Develop and review engineering documentation including P&IDs, datasheets, and technical specifications. Collaborate with operations, inspection, and safety teams to ensure mechanical integrity and compliance with industry standards. Participate in turnaround planning and execution, including scope development and contractor coordination. Assist in managing third-party vendors and reviewing technical proposals. Ensure all work complies with refinery safety policies, environmental regulations, and applicable codes (e.g., ASME, API). Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 5+ years of experience in a refinery or petrochemical environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, reliability engineering, and maintenance practices. Familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, ANSI). Proficient in engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP, CMMS). Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. TWIC card.
